Delaware Form PIT-CRS for Non-Refundable Credits
Delaware Form PIT-CRS (Delaware Income Tax Credit Schedule) is used by taxpayers to claim various non-refundable tax credits when filing their Delaware state income tax return. This form is required for taxpayers claiming specific credits, including Economic Development Credits, Research and Development Credits, Land and Historic Resource Conservation Credits, Historic Preservation Credits, Green Industries/Brownfield Credits, Neighborhood Assistance Credits, and others.
When to Use Form PIT-CRS
- Taxpayers claiming any of the following credits must complete and attach Form PIT-CRS to their return:
- Economic Development Credits
- Research and Development Credits
- Land and Historic Resource Conservation Credits
- Historic Preservation Credits
- Green Industries/Brownfield Credits
- Neighborhood Assistance Credits
- Only taxpayers approved by the Delaware Division of Revenue may claim Economic Development Credits.
- A Division of Revenue approval letter must be attached for credits such as Research and Development and Land and Historic Resource Conservation.
How to Complete Form PIT-CRS
- Line 21: Enter the total of all non-refundable credits claimed on Form PIT-CRS.
- Line 22: Enter current year credits from Line 23 of Delaware Form SCT-SSR (S Corporation) or Delaware Form PRT-PSI (Partnership), if any.
- Line 23: Add Lines 21 and 22.
- Line 24: Enter the lesser of Lines 20 and 23. This amount represents the total non-refundable tax credits to which the taxpayer is entitled. This amount is also entered on Line 30 of Form PIT-RES or Line 46 of Form PIT-NON.
Software Navigation for Form PIT-CRS
To add Form PIT-CRS in Online Taxes (OLT) software:
- From within your tax return (online), click on "State" in the left menu (or tap the three dots in the top-right corner for mobile devices).
- Click "Start or Revisit Delaware state."
- Under the "Credits" section, click "Start or Revisit" near "Delaware Income Tax Credit Information - Form PIT-CRS."
- Select the applicable credit(s) on the checklist page (e.g., Economic Development, Research and Development, etc.).
- Click "Save & Continue Return" and follow on-screen instructions.
Important Notes
- Form PIT-CRS must be attached to your Delaware return if claiming any of the specified credits.
- For Research and Development Credits, the credit is available for expenses incurred on or after January 1, 2027.
- Taxpayers claiming charitable contribution credits for permanent gifts of land must attach Form BUS-LHR or BUS-NAC and the Division of Revenue approval letter.
