How do I file an Arkansas state extension?
To file an Arkansas state extension, you can use the tax preparation software provided by Online Taxes (OLT). The process is straightforward and can be completed online.
Steps to File an Arkansas State Extension:
- Log in to your tax return in the OLT software.
- Go to the top-right corner of the screen and click on Tax Tools.
- From the dropdown menu, select Extension.
- On the Extension page, locate the State Extension section and click on File State Extension.
- Select Arkansas from the list of states.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your state extension request.
Note: The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) no longer requires attaching a copy of federal Form 4868 to your state return. If you file a federal extension, simply check the box on your Arkansas return indicating that you filed a federal extension. If you do not file a federal extension, you may still request an Arkansas extension using Form AR1055-IT before the April 15 filing deadline.
Important: Inability to pay is not a valid reason to request an Arkansas extension.
