Minnesota Nongame Wildlife Checkoff

The Minnesota Nongame Wildlife Checkoff allows taxpayers to support the conservation of Minnesota’s nongame wildlife, including species like bald eagles and loons. This voluntary donation is made directly through your Minnesota state tax return and helps fund programs managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

How to Donate

  • On Form M1, enter your donation amount on Line 18.
  • On Form M1PR, enter your donation amount on Line 19.
  • The donation amount will reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe.

Donation Options

  • Online Donation: Visit www.dnr.state.mn.us/nongame/donate to donate directly to the Nongame Wildlife Fund.
  • Mail Donation: Send a check payable to "DNR Nongame Wildlife Fund" to: 500 Lafayette Road, Box 25, St. Paul, MN 55155.

Important Notes

  • Your donation is tax-deductible.
  • The donation is not a tax credit or deduction for federal purposes, but it reduces your Minnesota state refund or increases your state tax liability.
  • Donations are used to fund over 80% of the funding for nongame wildlife programs run by the DNR.
