Missouri Property Tax Credit
The Missouri Property Tax Credit (MO-PTC) is designed to provide relief to eligible taxpayers who pay property taxes. However, eligibility and filing requirements depend on your income and whether you are required to file a Missouri income tax return.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must not be required to file a Missouri individual income tax return.
- Residents of Missouri with Missouri adjusted gross income of less than $1,200 are eligible.
- Nonresidents of Missouri with income from Missouri sources of less than $600 are eligible.
- If you are required to file a Missouri income tax return (Form MO-1040), you cannot use Form MO-PTC. Instead, you must use Form MO-PTS and attach it to your MO-1040.
How to Claim the Credit
- If you are not required to file an income tax return, use Form MO-PTC to claim your property tax credit.
- If you are required to file Form MO-1040, complete Form MO-PTS and attach it to your MO-1040.
- Complete Form MO-1040 (Lines 1 through 42) before completing Form MO-PTS.

- For those using tax software: Navigate to the State section, select Missouri, and find the Property Tax Credit under the Credits section.
