Arkansas Check Off Contributions
Arkansas offers taxpayers the opportunity to make charitable contributions through the "Check Off" program when filing their state income tax return. These contributions support various state and local programs, including education, health, and community development. Taxpayers can choose to contribute to one or more of the available check-off options, and the amount is deducted from their state tax liability.
How to Make Check Off Contributions
- When filing your Arkansas state tax return (Form AR1000F or AR1000NR), you will find the check-off options on the form or in the software.
- Select the check-off contributions you wish to support by marking the corresponding boxes.
- If you owe additional taxes, you may detach the check-off schedule and send a separate check for your contributions.
- Note: You cannot send a check for check-off contribution #10.
Important Notes
- Check-off contributions are voluntary and are not tax-deductible for federal purposes.
- Payments for check-off contributions must be mailed separately to: Arkansas Individual Income Tax, P.O. Box 3628, Little Rock, AR 72203.
- Ensure your payment is clearly marked with your name, address, and tax year to avoid processing delays.
Eligible Check-Off Programs
While specific programs may vary, common check-off options include support for public education, mental health services, and community development initiatives. The exact list of programs is available on the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) website.
